FERNTREE GULLY FIRE BRIGADE

FERNTREE GULLY FIRE BRIGADE

About Us

Founded in 1942, Ferntree Gully Fire Brigade is a part of Victoria’s Country Fire Authority, a network of over 1,200 fire brigades designated to protect life and property across the state. Our members are fully volunteer and are constantly on call, providing highly trained emergency response at a nationally recognised standard.

Who are we?

Our brigade is formed of volunteer members from around the Ferntree Gully community, devoted to the pursuit of public safety through fire attack, fire prevention and community safety education programs. We as a brigade of commited CFA members are honoured to make this significant contribution to public safety.

What do we respond to?

We respond to a broad range of emergencies including bushfires, building fires, vehicle accidents, rescues, hazardous materials and other incidents where there is risk to life or property. We also work in conjuction with other emergency services including Police, Ambulance, FRV and SES to provide them support where needed.

Where do we respond?

Our primary reponse area is the suburb of Ferntree Gully. We also respond to incidents in surrounding suburbs including Upper Ferntree Gully and The Basin. During large scale incidents we can be called anywhere across Victoria to assist other communities. We can even be sent interstate during national emergencies.

What training do we have?

CFA train Firefighters to a nationally recognised standard. Our members have many qualifications including Structural Firefighting, Breathing Apparatus, HAZMAT operations, First Aid and more. Additionally, our brigade hold training sessions twice every week to ensure we maintain critical skills for responding to any emergency.

Our Core Values

F R A P P

Family, Respect, Accountability, Professionalism, Pride

Family
We recognise that our families, friends and workplaces support our personal and organisational objectives and in doing so enable us to do what we do. Without this support we would collectively fail.

Respect
We all demonstrate a respect of ourselves, each other, our families and the communities in which we operate. We believe that we should always demonstrate respect in our role, resilience, compassion for others and a discipline in our training and behaviours.

Accountability
We believe that we are collectively and individually answerable for our actions.

Professionalism
We are dedicated to a principle of meeting our community’s emergency service needs. We do so by combining elements of our core values and maintaining constant state of readiness to meet all threats and challenges with a well-trained and resourced competency.

Pride
The enormous collective commitment necessary to perform our Fire Brigade roles requires an excellence of character. We inspire each other through the pride we have in our Brigade and its actions. We believe that every action reflects on all members of the Brigade.
